Skin Care Exposed Part 1

Skin Care Exposed Part 1

People don't realize the danger of some of the ingredients in their skin care products. Products using toxic ingredietns will not fulfill their promise of keeping you looking beautiful and radiant, and can have devastating long-term effects on your skin, your health, and our environment.

You know I want you to read the label on everything and learn what foods are super foods and what foods are poisons to your chemistry. This concept is especially important to skin care as well. As a doctor, as a father of my children I know the frusturations we all share finding products we can rely on day in and day out. In skin care it is even harder to find prodcuts you can trust b/c regulations are not as tight on skin care products as they are in the food lines. Your skin is the largest organ of the body and it plays a vital role in our overall health. The function of your skin is to assit with detoxifications, regulate temperature, protect us from external elements, and help our immune system fight off infection. The importance of our skin goes way beyound wrinkles and age spots.

Your skin is designed to be alive, dynamic, and changing. The life cycle of skin cells is about 28 days. By the time the cells make their way to the surface of the skin they have already died. New skin cells form in the lowest layer of the epidermis knw as the base layer. When the cells are born, they are fluid-filed and plum, ready to make their journey upwards. These cells share space with elastin, the suportive fibers and protein that give skin its youthful elasticity. Age, the environment, our lifestyle, and many other factors can cause the production of collagen and leastin to decline, which can lead to sagging skin. As cells make their way to the surface of the skin, they become dehydrated and are ready to be rplaced by yourthful new cells formed in the base layer. The point is that in order to have radiant skin requires consistent production of bibrant new skin cells to replace the old ones.

Protecting the supportive fibers and protein cells is important. Preventing dehydration and encouraging proper respiration (oxygen usage) is critical to the process of healthy skin repair and rejuvenation. That being said you need to know that your skin is affected by anything it is exposed to. 60% of whatever it comes into contact with is absorbed. That is why knowing what we put on our skin, scalp, teeth, is so important. The average adult according to the Environmental Working Group (an organization spotlighting many of these toxic compounds found in skin care) uses nine personal care products each day. Each of these containing 126 unique and potentially dangerous chemicals. More than 25% of all women use at least 15 personal care products daily.

Would you put cancinogens (cancer-causing agents) on your skin everyday multiple times a day? One in five adults are exposed to all of the top cancer-causing impurities found in personal care products. Millions of people put these chemicals on the largest, most complex, and significant organs of the human body.

Why Am I So Tired?

Stressful challenges from our environment such as air, water and chemical pollution, the eating of junk “foods”, stressed interpersonal relationships, over- work and anxiety combined with fears of the unknown future for our family and friends are the signs of our times.

Coping with these physical, mental and emotional stresses tests the limits of our health.
Each and every one of these challenging factors calls upon one or more of the dozens of healthful functions provided by the adrenal glands.

The adrenals are endocrine glands the size of walnuts which are located on top of the kidneys. The outer layers are known to create more than 30 hormones or hormone-like substances1 which are integrated into virtually every function of the body. The inner part of the adrenal gland is an extension of nerve tissue providing quick jolts of energy to help us handle “emergencies.”

The adrenal glands support us through thick and thin. Unfortunately, our modern lifestyle seems like one emergency after another to our adrenal glands, so they end up getting exhausted, “jumpy” and overworked. And without healthy adrenal glands we suffer. Many of the syndromes, symptoms and diseases of the 21st century are directly related to a lack of adrenal health.

To name a few:
• Chronic fatigue •    Immune deficiency •    Insomnia •    Craving of sweets and caffeine •    Weight gain •    Depression

Stress Challenges to the Adrenals

Constant stressful stimulation of the adrenals ultimately leads to adrenal exhaustion. Think of the adrenals as if they were muscles. Muscles contract when a need arises and relax when the need passes. Try holding even a small hand weight straight out from your body – it won’t take long for your arm to fatigue and go weak. Similarly, the adrenals respond to stresses but ultimately fatigue if not given an opportunity to “relax” and restore their strength and function. In this way constant stress leads to the loss of healthful adrenal function.

Sources of Stress That Challenge the Adrenals:
Refined carbohydrates - Junk foods - Physical and mental strain - Sleep deprivation - Chemical & heavy metal toxins - Trauma / Injury – Anger – Fear – Worry – Anxiety – Overwork – Noise pollution – Inflammation – Pain – Infections – Malabsorption – Maldigestion – Nutritional deficiency – Food allergies – Low blood sugar.

Meeting the Challenge
As one can see from this list of challenges, in our world the adrenals are constantly stressed. No wonder adrenal fatigue affects virtually everyone from time to time.
Do you suffer dizziness?, Headaches?, Weakness? Are you tired but wired?
Do you suffer prolonged weakness after colds or flu? Are you suffering nervous or muscular exhaustion?
Do you suffer insomnia? Do you have weight gain around your waist or face only? Decreased libido? Do you experience lightheadedness when standing up quickly?
You are very likely suffering from stressed, and unhealthy adrenals!!

Overcoming Healing Crisis

On our first visit we cover so much material and it can be difficult to remember all we cover so we wanted to remind you of one important possibility. It is not uncommon for an individual to start on a program and get sick within the first few weeks. Depending on the health of a person, how fast we get started and how dedicated to the process you really are your body will begin cleaning up old trash (infection, metals, chemicals, infestations) and can bite off a job more than it can handle. It is like stirring up a bees nest. Not a good idea. But in the event that it does happen you need to know that we don't recommend you jumping out of the process and getting onto medications. Your body is cleaning house. If the cleaning process gets overloaded you are potentially going to get sick. That means you may get a head cold, fever, cough, lung congestion, or experience a full fledged flu. Not fun. But can be a sign of your body getting healthier as it is clearing out old trash.

If you experience any of these signs or symptoms you need to call and come in for a visit so we can determine your need. It may be you need extra drainage support, or you need immune support, or maybe we need to adjust the intensity of your program. For you guys that are on zinc, or calcium it is more common to experience these symptoms as these minerals are strong immune system up-regulators. They will turn on your system and can lead to this healing crisis.

When You Should Eat Your Snacks

Snacking makes your day more fun because you get to eat more. Everyone loves to eat more and snacking is not only tasteful it is highly beneficial for boosting your metabolism. We recommend that because most people today are so sedentary and stressed that they eat 3 meals and 2 snack in between main meals to boost metabolism and boost productivity throughout the day. An example of when you should eat is around 10:30am and 3:30pm. Eating at these intervals during the day along with a healthy breakfast and lunch your blood sugar will remain stable and allow you to thrive through your day.

Snacking on good foods is key. Remember from previous day's snack info that the word snacks is misleading because many people think cookies, candies, sodas, etc. Snacks are just smaller versions of meals and should be looked at as a fuel sources for healthy vital organs to run complex metabolic process each and every day.

What Are Good Hearty Snacks I Should Eat

  • Raw Nuts (Almonds, Walnuts, Pecans)
  • Trail mixes out of the bulk section of local stores
  • Organic Food Bars,
  • Shakes: Sp Complete Rice Protein, Xymogen (Fit Food Lite), (Opti-Cleanse Plus), (Opti-Cleanse GHI)

Why Eat Snacks Through Out the Day

One of the best ways to keep good health is to snack between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner. Most people living the standard stagnant lifestyle need to snack to keep there blood sugar up and keep their metabolism elevated. We see more people living with hypoglycemia than ever before. This is a physiological state where ones body's blood sugar swings up and down creating symptoms of headaches, shaky, moody, tired, achy, sleepy, and un-motivated and un-productive. Every patient that comes in is recommended to snack between meals. We do this because a huge key to your well being is keeping a stable, and steady blood sugar. Snacks are an important key to your success.

Have you ever wished eating your favorite snack food like Cheetos would be good for you? According to some snack food companies, that time is now. I disagree.
One food manufacturer claims it wants to help consumers find a "little shortcut to a healthier life." A new labeling system will indicate what are supposed to be 'smart food choices." Stickers currently mark products like baked Cheetos and by the end of 2004, more than 100 foods will be identified as "smart choices." Another snack maker introduced 100 Calorie Packs of its most popular snacks such as Chips Ahoy! to help consumers count their calorie intake.
This is not the concept I am promoting to you and your family. I fear the labels will encourage people to purchase food they should not eat. Many of the so-called smart foods may be better than their predecessors but still are not healthy choices.
Company officials argue that the stickers will make it easy to find better choices in a given category.
Some say big name companies are introducing these food campaigns to offer alternatives. Critics say they are simply trying to combat the increasing awareness and concern for obesity in the United States.

Well what is a snack? Is it cookies, cakes, M&M's, sodas? These regardless of their calorie counts are not going to promote health. Get the concept of snack foods being sugar foods and know that a snack is a small quick version of a meal in between your breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. Eat every 2-3 hours. Snacking on almonds, walnuts, pecans, and seeds. Utilize nut butters and carrots, celery, or an apple. Utilize our snack options we have at the office, like Go Raw foods, artisana organic butters, organic food bars, dynamic greens, and our shakes products. We will have a more comprehensive list come tomorrow.

Water Consumption Guidlines

How Much Water Should You Drink?
So, how much pure filtered or spring water should you drink per day? Six glasses? Eight?

Well, here's a good rule of thumb:

You should be drinking enough water to turn your urine a light-colored yellow.
If you are outside on a hot day or engaging in strenuous activity, it is advisable to increase your water intake as needed. It is also important to note that as you age, your thirst mechanism works less efficiently. Older adults need to pay more attention to the color of their urine to see if their water intake is adequate.

I recommend your drinking 1 liter of water per 50 lbs of body weight. So if you are 150lbs you need a minimum of 3 liters or 96 oz of water per day. Consume an extra (liter/32 oz) of fluids for every hour of exercise.

When you should drink water?

Drink water between meals: That is a minimum of 30-60 minutes either side of a meal. I recommend only drinking enough water with your meals to take your supplement program. People don't realize that fluids with your meals dilute your stomach acids and slows your ability to digest your food. Fermentation and putrefaction in your colon are the consequence. This is basically rotting food in your colon. That is trouble.

Coconut Water and Vegetable Juicing – Adding a Little Variety
Coconuts are an excellent source of fresh, pure water and electrolytes. Coconuts are also rich in lauric acid, which is known for its immune-boosting as well as its antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties so it's an ideal choice when you're sick, or exercising heavily. Most of you know by know that your blood type is not a fan of coconuts and that is true. But when using the water it is a great addition to your program.

Symptoms of Dehydration
The  body can become dehydrated as we progress in age. At the same time, it disregards "dry mouth" as the only indicator of body thirst. The body gives other symptoms long before dry mouth is indicated. Other symptoms are:
  • Dyspeptic Pain (heartburn, indigestion, stomach pains)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis pain (joint pains),
  • Angina Pain (heart pains, deep sternal chest pains,
  • Low Back Pain,
  • Intermittent Claudication Pain (leg pain on walkking)
  • Migraines,
  • Hangover Headaches,
  • Colitis Pain (lower digestive issues,
  • Constipation.

The Many Uses Of Water Part IV

Filtered Tap Water – Getting to the Gold

The most economical and environmentally sound choice you and your family can make is to purchase and install a water filter for your home. I recommend three different types of water filters and weigh the pros and cons of each. Let's take a brief look below.

Reverse Osmosis Filter
In addition to removing chlorine, inorganic, and organic contaminants in your water, an RO filter will also remove about 80 percent of the fluoride and most DPBs. The major drawback is the expense of installing an RO filter as most need a plumber to get up and running.

Ion Exchange Filter
Ion exchange is designed to remove dissolved salts in the water, such as calcium. This system actually softens the water or exchanges natural-forming mineral ions in the water with its own ions, thereby neutralizing their harmful effect of creating scale build-up.
The ion exchange system was originally used in boilers and other industrial situations before becoming popular in home purifying units, which usually combine the system with carbon for greater effectiveness.

Granular Carbon and Carbon Block Filters

These are the most common types of counter top and under counter water filters.

Granular carbon filters and carbon block systems perform the same process of contaminant removal, adsorption, which is the chemical or physical bond of a contaminant to the surface of the filter media.

Granular activated carbon is recognized by the EPA as the best available technology for the removal of organic chemicals like herbicides, pesticides and industrial chemicals. However, one of the downfalls of granular carbon filters is that the loose material inside can channel--the water creates pathways through the carbon material, escaping filtering.

Carbon block filters offer the same superior filtering ability but are compressed with the carbon medium in a solid form. This eliminates channeling and gives the ability to precisely combine multiple media in a sub-micron filter cartridge. By combining different media, the ability to selectively remove a wide range of contaminants can be achieved.

Ideally, you want a filtration system that offers a variety of methods to remove different contaminants. Most systems do not address a combination of organic, inorganic, cyst, sediment and metals.

I'm pleased to announce that I have located a family of filters that I believe are the best filters on the market in terms of effectiveness, value, and ease of use. They are all manufactured in the U.S. under exclusive contract with a company specializing in advanced water treatment products, and will include both countertop and under-counter filters.

Living Water – Keeping the Balance
In choosing the right type of water for you and your family, you want to aim for pH balance. Distilled water is too acidic and alkaline water is too alkaline. The ideal pH of your water should be between 6.5 to 7.5, which is neutral.

Mountain spring water is in this ideal range. It is some of the healthiest water on the planet because it is "living water". Living water, like "living food is in its raw, natural state the way nature intended.
One of the main reasons I am such an advocate for eating raw, organic vegetables is because these "living foods" contain biophotons, small units of light stored by all organic organisms, including you.
Gravity-fed spring water is alive in much the same way. When you take this vital energy into your body, you are re-charging it with health and encouraging it to return to a whole and balanced state.
Now, when I mention mountain spring water, I don't mean the two-gallon jugs you see sitting on your grocery store shelf. I'm talking about water you bottle yourself from a gravity-fed spring. There's a great website called FindaSpring where you can find a natural spring in your area. This is a great way to get back to nature and teach your children about health and the sources of clean water.

The best part is that most of these spring water sources are free!
It is important to bring either clear polyethylene or glass containers on your trip to collect the water so no unsafe chemicals can contaminate your pure drinking water on the way home. If you choose to use glass bottles, be sure to wrap them in towels to keep them from breaking in the car. Tomorrow we are going to discuss some rules you need to know about your consumption of water. Stay tuned.

The Many Uses Of Water Part III

So, Bottled Water is the Way to Go, Right?
If you're thinking you're safe from all of the harmful contaminants I listed above because you drink bottled water instead of tap water, I'm afraid I must be the bearer of some bad news:

40 percent of bottled water is bottled TAP WATER!

Yes, you read correctly. 40 percent of bottled water is just bottled tap water, which may or may not have received additional filtration. Remember the arsenic and DPBs you were trying to avoid from tap water? Well, an independent test done by the Environmental Working Group found these and 36 other harmful pollutants hidden in bottled water.

Also, drinking from plastic bottles is not a good idea. Plastic bottles contain a chemical called bisphenol A or BPA, which is a synthetic hormone disruptor that has been linked to serious health problems such as:

    •    Learning and behavioral problems
    •    Altered immune system function
    •    Prostate and breast cancer
    •    Risk of obesity
    •    Early puberty in both genders

Aside from the health risks, the devastating impact bottled water has had on our ecosystem is staggering!

Distilled Water – Use with Caution

Some health conscious people have been misled into believing that distilled water is healthy for them. As I've stated before, this is simply not true. It is true that for 5 years this is the only water my family and I consumed but we were detoxing regularly and taking minerals, vitamins, esential fatty acids etc.

The problem with distilled water is that it is boiled and evaporated away from its dissolved minerals. The water then becomes acidic and seeks to balance itself by drawing minerals right out of your body. It will also draw out contaminants from the container it's stored in for this same reason.
What's worse, any contaminant in the water that vaporizes at a lower temperature than the water, such as volatile organic compounds, like disinfection byproducts that are thousands of times as toxic as chlorine, will be condensed and actually concentrated in the finished distilled water. So what you end up with is water that contains even more dangerous contaminants than what you started with!
I only recommend using distilled water for a short period of time and only for the purpose of detoxification, as this water can help pull toxins from your body. Drinking it long-term, however, will most likely invite health problems.

Alkaline Water
In an interview with water filtration expert, Houston Tomasz, asked for his thoughts on the growing use of alkaline water. There are several potential problems with alkaline water.
First of all, most water ionizers and alkalizers are marketed by multi-level marketing (MLM) companies with questionable ethics.
Some people experience an initial "high" when they start drinking alkaline water. This can easily be attributed to detoxification, and the fact that they are likely just becoming better hydrated.
Detoxification is about the only benefit of alkaline water, and this benefit is limited to very SHORT TERM USE (no more than a week or two). An additional concern is that many individuals have stomach dysfunctions like GERD or ulcers that are largely related to having too little stomach acid. Long-term use of alkaline or ionized water can interfere with your body's natural digestive process by reducing the acid needed to properly break down and absorb food. This could then lead to an upset of your body's good bacteria, which can then open the door to parasitic infection, ulcers and malabsorption.

"Vitamin" Waters – Do NOT Be Fooled!
If you've recently switched from soda to vitamin water because you believed it to be a healthier choice, you may be disappointed by what I have to say about them: Vitamin waters are nothing more than a clever marketing scheme designed to promote a product that is just as unhealthy as soda!
Vitamin waters often contain dangerous high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), artificial colors, additives, preservatives and caffeine. What's even worse is these manufacturers use distilled water to make their products, which, as you've read above, is one of the worst types of water you can put into your body!
Now that you know which types of water to avoid, let's take a look at the water you should be drinking for optimal health which you can see tomorrow.

The Many Uses Of Water Part II

Types of Water – How Your Choice Makes the Difference

When it comes to water, there's more to choose from than simply tap versus bottled. Let's closely examine each so you can make informed decisions about your water and your health.

Tap Water – Danger in Every Glass

Plain old tap water: It's easy. It's convenient and it comes right out of your kitchen faucet. However, as I'm sure you've heard, most tap water is contaminated with a host of pollutants that increase your risk of serious health problems. Let's take a look at some of these contaminants and how they can adversely affect your health and that of your family.
Arsenic
The level of arsenic in US tap water is incredibly high. This poisonous element is a powerful carcinogenic, which has been linked to an increased risk of the development of several types of cancer. In 2001 the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lowered the maximum level of arsenic permitted in drinking water from 50 ug/L to 10 ug/L due to the established cancer risk.
The Natural Resources Defense Council estimates as many as 56 million Americans living in 25 states drink water with arsenic at unsafe levels. For more information, see the USGS website, which offers maps showing where and to what extent arsenic occurs in ground water across the United States.
Aluminum
You may have heard how aluminum increases your risk for Alzheimer's disease, but did you also know that the aluminum found in your municipal water supply can cause a wide variety of other health problems?
 Aluminum has been linked to:
  • Hyperactvity
  • Learning disabilities in children
  • Gastrointestinal disease
  • Skin problems
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Liver disease
Fluoride
If you still believe fluoride in your drinking water prevents cavities and helps build strong teeth, you've fallen for a cleverly devised mass-deception. As recent studies done on children in India show, fluoride is anything but a cavity fighter. Fluoride is a well-known toxin that actually leads to an increased risk of cavities and can cause a wide range of health problems, including weakening your immune system and accelerating aging due to cellular damage.
Prescription and OTC Drugs
You may have been told that if you dispose of your unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs in the trash instead of the toilet that you do not run any risk of it ending up in the water supply. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
Water that drains through landfills, known as leach rate, eventually ends up in rivers. Although not all states source drinking water from rivers, many do.
According to studies, human cells do not grow normally when exposed to even minute amounts of prescription or over-the-counter drugs.  Some drugs that were never meant to be combined are mixed together in the drinking water you consume every day. Millions of people have drug allergies. Are you among them? If so, how do you know the strange symptoms you've been experiencing are not due to ingesting small doses of the drugs you're allergic to from your water?
Pregnant women should be especially wary. The toxic substances you take into your body from tap water will have a negative effect on the development of your unborn child.
Disinfection Byproducts (DBPs)
Most tap community water supplies are treated with chlorine and although it may not be the healthiest element you can consume, it is far better for you than what is left behind. In this video, "Tap Water Toxins - is Your Water Trying to Kill You?", Dr. Mercola interviews water filtration pioneer Robert Slovak about the dangers of disinfection by products.
Disinfection byproducts are the result of disinfecting water with chlorine. It is important to note that while consuming chlorine is certainly not healthy, DBPs are TEN THOUSAND TIMES more dangerous!
In addition to being a powerful carcinogenic, DPBs have also been linked to liver, kidney and nervous system problems.
We are not through yet Part III is next on the many uses of water.

The Many Uses Of Water

Wouldn't be great if we could get our water from the depths of the earth's most electrically active and energetic well springs. Some believe that water is not only alive it has a level of consciousness. Interesting statement especially when you find out in the physiology of our brain that 90% of your brain is water. God must have know what he was doing because your body is so intracately woven together that no way is it a coincidence that we are hard wired the way we are. Water is full of living energy and healing information because it gives the body's innate self-healing forces the supplies it needs to regenerate and recharge its batteries. So what are the many symptoms of dehydration?

Since most of you are no longer tuned in to your bodies the way your ancestors were hundreds of years ago, you may be overlooking your bodies cries for water.

There is a silent and growing epidemic of chronic dehydation. So many suffer from it yet are simply unaware of the symptoms.

Are you one of Them? The major symptoms of dehydration are:
  • Thirst
  • Dark colored urine
  • Fatigue
  • Digestive disturbances such as dehydration and constipation
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Auto-immune disease such as chronic fatigue syndrome and multiple sclerosis
  • Premature aging
  • High cholesterol
  • Weight gain
Tomorrow we are going to discuss the many types of water out there so keep your hat on for some grrreat information!

The Power Of Water

At this point you are getting the idea that water is extremely important. It is so important that you understand how wonderfully healing water is. Why it is at the bottom of our food pyramid and why Dr. Faridum Batmanghelidj, author of the renowned book: "Your body's Many Cries for Water," has recognized that the cause of many chronic diseases lies in the dehydration of the body. His prime message was "You are not sick, you are thirsty." We are going to begin to share with you the many benefits water has on your body. Things that deplete water, and things water can be used for in a clinical setting. The next few days should enlighten you to just the tip of the ice-burg in regards to the power of water. But first You need to understand more of why water contains so much vitality and healing properties.

Water journeys through the Earth and absorbs all electro-magnetic vibrations that are present on our planet. Water is the "blood of our planet," as the renowned Austrian Scientist Viktor Schauberger, put it. Just as Earth has North and South poles, every water molecule has north and south Poles as well. The atmosphere of the Earth corresponds to the electromagnetic field of the individual water molecule. Our Earth's atmosphere vibrates at 7.83 hertz and is called Schuhmann Resonance Frequency. (As a quick aside every time you put your feet in the EB Pro foot bath machine you are getting these schuhmann frequencies reset in your body. An added bonus you did not know you were getting.) Water Absorbs this frequency pattern on its journey through the Earth. Our body, in return, has the same frequency pattern as the water molecule. Our brain waves have a frequency of 8-10 hertz. Water connects us to the Earth's frequency. This also means that we can replenish what our body is missing when we are ill, with water. Water can balance the energy deficit that causes the illness. That's why we are told to drink plenty of liquids-but really we should only drink pure spring water or filtered water from a high energy filtering system. You get what you pay for with filtering water so by a good filtering system for your drinking water. Or even use a home filtering system so the water that you are bathing in is cleaner. Remember your skin is a giant organ and chlorine, bromine and other contaminants are in the water are being absorbed through your scalp, skin at faster speeds than you could realize.

Is Your Water Safe Part III

Even after filtration, water often fails to have that crystal-clear look. All the bugs may be dead and all the major particles may be gone, but there still there may be a faint haze. You can't have that or people might talk. To avoid this problem, most municipal water supplies apply an additional treatment step that uses aluminum sulfate, commonly called "alum." The idea is that the particulate matter remaining in the water, making it cloudy, forms a complex with the alum and falls out, leaving the water clear.

The problem associated with this is that nobody can guarantee all the aluminum is gone from the final product. There are those happy to say that most of it is gone, which may be fine for describing the removal of stains from your unmentionables, but should we really drink this stuff?

Aluminum is everywhere. It's in cooking utensils, antiperspirants, snack bags, and every soft drink you can buy. Now it's in the water used to make most of those drinks.

We need minerals. We also need greater or lesser amounts of several metals, but aluminum is not one of them, and like chlorine it definitely is not innocuous. It has been linked to Alzheimer's disease, implicated in premature aging, and is a know biological toxin. It builds up in human tissues, and it's hard to get rid of. In my opinion you should avoid drinking this stuff.

Is Your Water Safe Part II

If you look at  a list showing all the unwanted chemicals in our water, you would be amazed at its length: tens of thousands of environmental bad guys. the frustrating news is that one of the scariest chemicals is deliberately dumped into our drinking water, and most, though not all, of our water districts are brainwashed enough to allow it. (This applies to the United States only. Nowhere else is this travesty permitted.) More frustrating still is the fact that the issue is so emotionally charged in favor of this chemical, and by people who really do want the best for our health, both our own and our children.

The Number two bad guy is fluoride. That wonderful stuff that is saving our children from cavities. Let's not waste time here: sodium fluoride is rat poison. Head over to a hardware store and check it out. Most of them still carry it for just that purpose.

I've heard all the arguments from well-meaning, concerned parents who only want the best for their kids. Of course the dose is less than that necessary to kill rats, but our bodies have trouble with the stuff just like rats, and small amounts add up, slowly (or maybe not so slowly) over years. Understand this fact: fluoride is the second most toxic chemical in nature-the only one ranked higher is arsenic (williams &Wilkins 1984).

As a heated topic, this one really sizzles. I hoping to lead you to known, published information to which you may not have had access. This is a dangerous chemical we're playing with. It was once used therapeutically to depress thyroid activity (Yiamouyiannis 1993). Even if you think we should have small amounts, do you really trust every local utility technician to put only the  "right" amount of this poison in your water? (Let's not discuss the fact that you weren't asked whether you wanted the stuff in the first place.)

Fluoride is a waste product of aluminum mining. Research concluding that adding fluoride (in amounts higher than your might think) prevented cavities was funded by the aluminum producers. Why not be paid four your waste to be removed for you? (Ah, we have another of those cute tricks.) Fluoride is toxic!!!! It is neurotoxic, meaning, in this case, it hits the central nervous system and causes behavioral changes before you get physical findings, like mottling of the teeth-a common side effect. (Mottling is discolored splotches on the front teeth of kids who have gotten too much fluoride; even seen this? Dental fluorosis is a disease state stemming from over-ingestion of this chemical and can start with simple blotches on the teeth and end with loss of affected teeth, in more severe cases.

In 1990, the New England Journal of Medicine (March 22 issue) carried a report from the mayo clinic stating that a trial of fluoride for osteoporosis caused increased hip fractures, and bone fragility. Fluoride exposure has been implicated in genetic damage, tumors, and hypersensitivity reactions. Neat stuff, and they put that junk into your water. In a report reprinted in the health Freedom News, July, 1995, George Glasser reported that, "both the Pasteur Institute, France and the Nobel Institute , Sweden, concur that fluoride has little or n value as a dental cavity deterrent, and stress that the possible health risks from using fluoride outweigh and benefit. for those with enough of an open mind to look, the definitive answers are already published, thoroughly and unequivocally. Those answers are available from Dr. John Yiamouyiannis, a PH.D.  in biochemistry. Look him up in the booklet, Lifesaver's Guide to Fluoridation, and his full-length book, Fluoride: The Aging Factor, are the way to go.

Is Your Water Safe Part I

Autopsies on American soldiers killed in action (during the Vietnam War) showed incredible high build-ups of arteriosclerotic plaques throughout their vascular systems compared to men that in the same age bracket had died in auto accidents in the U.S. The difference was striking enough to generate a study to try and figure out why the country's finest specimens had so much arterial damage.

The search came down to one major difference: The soldiers had to use large quantities of "water-purification tablets" before they could drink any of the water in Vietnam. These tablets were chlorine. Chlorine is not an innocuous substance. It is a powerful bleaching agent, and it kills living things. It is highly reactive against living tissue, which is why it works so well to destroy microorganisms in both our water and our bathroom tiles. It does not react any less strongly against human tissue, and when ingested, it is carried into the bloodstream, where it can attack the walls of arteries. That is obviously not good.

The body, on the other hand, in its pre-programmed wisdom, tries to insulate itself from these damaged areas. It does so, apparently, by laying down a tiny layer of cholesterol as a protective coating against these scarred areas.  You can see where we're headed right? If the scarring continues, the repair efforts continue, until total scarring leads to total "repairing," with arteries then congested with masses of cholesterol, it isn't the cholesterol itself that causes the problem; it's the body's need to use it excessively as a result of abnormal chemical stress.

If chlorine can kill single-cell organism (like germs, fungi, etc.), it can also kill multi-cell organisms (you're one of those). It may take awhile, but the effect is there. Avoid it!!!!!!!! Sitting in a major conference for the American cancer association the keynote speaker who was the head of the ACA stated in a break out session that tap water and sugar are the fastest compounds to accelerate cancer growth. WOW!

Although bromine is less well known, it is in the same chemical class as chlorine. and as far as biological health is concerned, it should not be trusted as an acceptable substitute for water you would want to drink.

Some of the serious pure water advocates respect so strongly what chlorine can do that they advise against even showering or bathing in water treated with it, as the skin, particularly the scalp, is very absorptive. In fact, studies exist directly implying that washing hair in chlorinated water absorbs more of the chemical into the body than is normally ingested through drinking all day!

If that were not enough, imagine compounding the situation by deliberately doing something toxic, something that never had to be done in the first place, and that was not even involved with the purification of water. This runs us into another major issue. That which we will discuss tomorrow.

Don't Drink The Water

You Turn on the faucet. From it issues forth crystal clear, cool, refreshing water. It's been processed by the local utilities, whose job it is to assure that we're provided with the best water possible. It's been purified, tested, treated, maintained, monitored and distributed right to our homes. It's reasonably priced and thoroughly convenient...Don't drink it. So, you've put a water softener onto your incoming water line. Those hard water stains, and crust are gone. The rotten egg smell is gone. Your coffee tastes better...Don't drink it. One of my concerns has to include just how that water is purified. It is fundamental to understand, however, just how serious the the need is for strong water treatment. One of my concerns has to include just how that water is purified. It is fundamental to understand, however, just how serious the the need is for strong water treatment. the main problem is not the one we hear so much about; i.e., the seepage into the ground of weird new chemicals. that makes for excellent press and allows for tons of grant more to be allocated for high-tech chemical research. That dilemma exists, no question, but the real, high-volume problem is not nearly as spectacular. It's a much more mundane, more expensive, more fundamental horror: Our own sewage is dumped directly into our rivers from every city in the nation. (The use of septic tanks is not the technique of cities!)

Think about it. Unless you are the absolute uppermost town on a river, your water intake is starting  with all the dumped wastes of the town above you. And all the towns above them. Pleasant thought. We take someones Else's sewage, draw it into our water supply, chop it up, filter it, dump enough chlorine into it to hopefully kill all the worms, microbes, and other bugs and parasites that are obviously there, and then we, uh...Drink it.

A not uncommon misconception is that as long as all the " bugs" are gone everything is okay. Pump that chlorine or bromine in there, kill off all the bad guys, and everything is taken care of. Nothing could be so disastrously further from the truth. It's true that microorganisms cause the most acute adverse effects, usually diarrhea. It would be nice, therefore, to be able to drink water without playing host to every Giardia Lamblia or amoeba that comes out of the pipe. It's also true that we are being bombarded by huge quantities of chemicals, estimated at over 70,000 types, with hundred's more new pesticides, fertilizers, hormones, additives, industrial chemicals, and organic compounds coming at us each year, many of which leach into our water supply.

Every water filter company is competing to convince you that it is the best at removing lead, benzene, or one of those chemicals no one can pronounce, like trichloromethylene or trihalomethane. At present, the problem is more fundamental. The effort here is not to sell you a water filter, though I think you need one; my intention is to convince you that you should be very concerned about what is happening to our water and how serious a problem it really is.Only together we can we begin to push for a change in the way our water is treated before it is pumped to us. In the end, we need a way to process out the bad bugs and nasty pollutants in the water without being killed by the process itself. This is the biggest danger we face by far because something has to be done to fix the water, besides spending fortunes on home filters and bottled water. It's a catch-22 at the moment: You need to process, but the processing is killing you. This is a vast topic and will continue the next section on the matter tomorrow.

Modern Living Equals Death

How many people today are worried about tsumani's, earth quakes, nuclear facilities blowing up or melting down, or other crazy natural disasters? These events we cannot control, but still affect our health on every level. However, an even worse situation for our health you will find in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the medications we take. You do not have to live overseas to worry about toxins that are destroying our health. This is caused by adopting the many new ideas of our 21st century food guide pyramid.

As I have said, over and over,  nutrition is the fundamental key to unlocking cellular vitality. It is the back bone that will catapult your health forward or allow it to spiral out of control. So what are we really talking about?

Food
1.The FDA has warned that there are over 50 different known poisons and toxic substances just in the average American's grocery cart.
2.Cholesterol that comes from eating bad fats and cooking by-products doesn't get removed from your blood. It backs up and clogs the liver and gallbladder, and then builds up in arteries, organs and small blood vessels, causing heart attacks, strokes and death.
3. Approximately 60 million pounds of organophosphates (a pesticide known to cause cancer) are applied to approximately 60 million acres of U.S. agricultural crops annually.

Air
1. In 2006, the U.S. Government made a proposal to make it easier for companies to release hazardous materials without telling the public how and where they were doing it.
2. Here is a short list of toxins in the air you are breathing right now...carbon monoxide, lead, ash, soot, ozone, hydrocarbons, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur oxides, insecticides, herbicides and dust from fertilizers and pesticides.
3. It is estimated that up to 80% of all cancers are a direct result of chemicals in our air, water, food, and medical drugs.

Water
1.In the average ten-minute shower, the human body absorbs the same amount of chlorine as if you had consumed 20 gallons of tap water.
2. Today, nearly 50% of America's rivers and lakes are too polluted for fishing swimming or aquatic life.
3. An estimated 50 million Americans have been poisoned by radioactive radon or radium from their tap water.

Drugs
1.Many approved prescription drugs should be pulled off the market as many of them are the leading cause of acute liver failure. Hence why you have to have monthly, to quarterly blood checks in order to keep an eye on the liver.
2.Hundreds of over-the-counter pain killing and fever deducing pharmaceutical drugs are still the leading cause of acute liver failure, gastric ulcers, and degenerative joint diseases.
3.According to the journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), prescription drugs kill 100,000 Americans every year and injure another 2 million.

Bacteria Can Be Good-Probiotics build health

The word biotic is from the greek biotikos meaning: of or relating to life. We often use the word anti-biotic. Which means against life. Antibiotics kill bacteria but not all bacteria should be killed. In fact, “healthy bacteria” are a health building essential to life, vitality and wellbeing.

Healthy bacteria in the soil feed nutrients through the roots of plants to help them grow and flourish, providing us with wholesome foods. Healthy bacteria in the human body protect and feed us in the same way, by helping with digestion and assimilation of essential nutrients.

That’s right! Every healthy person has within their intestines a colony of bacteria nearly as large as their liver. It is estimated that a healthy person maintains more healthy bacteria than the total number of cells making up their body! The human body has approximately 13 trillion cells, a healthy bacterial colonization of the inside and outside of the human body is estimated at 14 trillion microbes of various types. These healthy colonies do the job of keeping unhealthy bacteria in check, and more.

Healthy bacteria in your body:
√    Acidify the intestinal tract to make it uninhabitable by unhealthy bacteria, thereby supporting the immune system.
√    Assist in the breakdown of carbohydrates and digestion of milk products.
√    Provide for better food assimilation and toxin release by the large intestine.
√    Healthy bacteria in the intestines can even create for you some vitamins you might not get otherwise!

Breast Cancer and the Modern World

Breast Cancer in the Modern World

Mammograms and Thermal imaging are great tools to aid in the detection breast cancer, but they only find a problem after it has begun and do nothing to detect the risk before the disease begins to manifest itself.  It is obvious that waiting until a problem develops before trying to address it is one of the reasons why so many people die of cancer.  It is possible to determine your risk of developing breast cancer and therefore to make intelligent diet, lifestyle and nutritional changes that may reduce the likelihood of manifestation.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in U.S. accounting for 32 percent of all female cancers.  Breast cancer is responsible for 18 percent of cancer deaths in women, and is second only to lung cancer as the cause of death from cancer among women in United States. The number one risk factor for developing breast cancer is just being a women. 100 times the likely hood of developing b/c women have more breast cells and women’s breast are constantly exposed to the growth-promoting effects of the female hormone estrogen and progesterone.  In the year 2001 an estimated 192,200 women were diagnosed and 40,600 of these women died from the disease.  The older a woman is the greater chances of developing breast cancer with approximately 77 percent of the cases occur in women over 50 years of age.  Caucasian, Hawaiian and African-American women have the highest incidence of invasive breast cancer in U.S., four times higher than the lowest group including Korean, American Indian and Vietnamese women.

Cancer develops at a cellular level for years or decades before something can be identified using modern imaging techniques.  BRCA 1 & BRCA 2 (BReast CAncer 1 & 2) are healthy proteins that prevent the formation of tumors.  If these genes are “stoped from performing this function the result is an increased chance of developing a tumor.  While genetics point to breast cancer genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 to be implicated in only three to five percent of breast cancers.  Accelerating the onset of menstruation from 16.5 years in 1842 to 13 years in 1995 and to 11 to 12 years old in the year 2003 parallels an increase in degenerative diseases later in life. The Shanghai Breast Cancer Study showed that women who exercised during adolescence and adult experience a 40% reduction of breast cancer.  Researchers found two factors increasing risk of developing breast cancer meaning increased abdominal body fat distribution increased weight at age 30.  Endocrine disruptors are synthetic or natural estrogens that act on the endocrine system mimicking, blocking or interfering in some manner in the natural instructions of hormones to cells.  Well-known endocrine disrupters are the drug DES, dioxin, PCBs, DDT, pesticides, and plasticizers.  Humans also reported in 2003 that women with Type II diabetes are 17 percent more likely to develop breast cancer than those without.  The sources of estrogen includes endogenous formation from inside the body, xenobiotics from environmental toxins, and hormone replacement therapy.  In every case whether one takes it or makes it, the body must metabolize it and this requires a healthy liver capable of methylation and phase I and Phase II liver detoxification. Famous studies indicate that breast cancer is vastly increased in countries where increased milk production per capita is known, the highest of which is in the free world, while Japan has the lowest incidence of breast cancer in the least milk production per person.  Thyroid metabolism when reduced has also been shown to negatively effect metabolism of estrogen.

The seventh for citrus vegetables and results in certain metal groups informed the digestive tract which assists can leverage intoxication and reducing estrogen to healthy forms.  Studies show a significant reduction in the risk of breast cancer with regular consumption of Brassica vegetables including brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, kale and turnips.  Calcium d-Glucarate and DIM (di-indole methionine) are ways to reduce the Bata Glucaronidase from building up in the intestine that is associated with an increase in cancer activity.

To lower the risk of breast cancer simply reduce carbohydrates to stabilize insulin levels, eliminate dairy, reduce red meat and alcohol consumption, increase fiber, increase brassica vegetables, increase exercise, and the reduce exposure to xenobiotic estrogens.  Nutritionally it is recommended that Livaplex and Livco with Vitanox be employed to reduce estrogens along with calcium d-Glucarate, and DIM be employed.

It is possible to change the outcome of cancer by understanding what created it.  Do not wait for a lump to go bump in the night to awaken to all that can be done to support the health and well-being that may actually prevent all forms of cancer.

Organic Minerals are More than Rocks!

There is a natural order to life on earth. The sun appears each day on the eastern horizon, bathing the earth in sunlight.    From the water, air, minerals and sunshine, life flows into the lifeless earth. The air breathes life into plants, energized by the sunshine on the bright green leaves. Minerals, dissolved by the fungi of the soil, flow with the water into the roots of plants. Plants turn lifeless minerals into essential nutrients for animals and humans.
Every part of nature is orderly, organic, integrated and whole.
When one considers nature, we see that nutrients have a natural progression through the environment—from the mineral kingdom to the vegetable kingdom, then on to the animal or human kingdoms. These are referred to as “kingdoms” because they are distinct and have natural laws that govern each of them. At the same time, all of nature follows universal laws.
An example of this distinction is in the food that is appropriate for each kingdom. An animal will not eat rocks for its essential mineral needs. Directly or indirectly, animals are only fed through the plants. Animals are governed by the laws of nature, and no matter how nutritionally deficient they become, they do not break these laws in search of nutrition. Cows grazing in a field do not begin eating the dirt when the grasses are all consumed. They find another field or starve.
The Natural Laws reveal that the mineral kingdom must be “prepared” for animal and human consumption. One type of preparation is done by the vegetable kingdom. Minerals from the soil are absorbed through the roots of the plants. Plants are nourished by these minerals and the health of the vegetable kingdom is “rooted” in the mineral kingdom. The health of the animal kingdom is “rooted” in the vegetable. Even carnivorous animals eat animals that ultimately were sustained in the vegetable kingdom. The common denominator in this natural order is organically-bound minerals.
Organically-bound minerals are more than rocks and dirt. They are minerals that
are part of a whole. Organic minerals are bound to proteins, fats, trace minerals, vitamins, enzymes and as yet unknown organic nutritional essentials. Organically bound minerals are essential to the function of the plant or animal— no other form will do!
Minerals that have not become “organic” by passing through the vegetable kingdom are considered inorganic minerals. Some inorganic minerals are nutritionally essential for animals and humans, such as the calcium bicarbonate found in spring or well water. But boil or cook that water and the calcium is altered into a form which is unhealthful.
MOST inorganic minerals, however, are challenging to one’s health. Let’s learn why.
Inorganic Minerals Can Cause Nutritional Debt Inorganic minerals which enter the body as nearly insoluble compounds require many more metabolic processes to become assimilated in the body. In other words, some inorganic minerals draw more nutrition FROM the body than they give to the body. This causes a nutritional debt. Imagine that the body is similar to a bank. Your body can store some of the nutritional essentials in your “health bank.” When vitamins or minerals or enzymes or co-enzymes are required to complete a metabolic process, the body draws from the “bank.” Continuous consumption of inorganic minerals can create a nutritional debt that leads to the breakdown in health.
Examples of Inorganic Minerals
Some so called, “supplements” are made from inorganic minerals and are not readily available for use in the body. Some examples are:
•    Calcium carbonate, •    Zinc picolinate, sulfate, or zinc oxide •    Potassium chloride, citrate, or gluconate •    Magnesium oxide, magnesium sulfate •    Ferrous sulfate, fumarate, or gluconate
Do you recognize any of those minerals in your supplements? If so, they may be contributing to a nutritional debt.
